I thought I had seen my share of amazing infinity-edge pools at Marina Bay Sands Singapore & the Hanging Gardens Ubud Hotel in Bali, but I was wrong! This concept villa, Mirage House, takes the cake. The home's entire roof is a pool! Image this place all to yourself, the tranquility, the parties, the views. Its incredible!
Manhattan's 432 Park Avenue is quickly rising to become the Western Hemisphere's tallest residential tower (1,398 ft.). Designed by starchitect Rafael Viñoly, the building is redefining New York's real estate records. Already generating nearly $1 billion in apartment sales, 432 Park Avenue stands to earn $3 billion in total sales. The skyscraper's six penthouse residences, each at 8,255 sq. ft. contain six bedrooms, seven baths, and are located on floors 91 - 96. Completion of the tower is expected in 2015.
Architect Jonathan Segal designed the Lemperle Residence on a narrow pie shaped oceanfront lot in La Jolla, California. This ocean front residence promotes an indoor/outdoor lifestyle through the use of expansive glass and deck areas. Due to the small pie shaped lot the architect focused all views toward the ocean. Every room above grade space frames a view of the Pacific Ocean through the use of vertical and horizontal planes and edges. These edges also create an air of privacy from the adjacent neighbors. When a designer is faced with site challenges this always creates an opportunity for experimentation in design; John Segal has succeeded, creatively adapting Lemperle Residence to site restrictions. via: iam-architect.com The Glass House by Nico Van Der Meulen is located in Johannesburg, South African - its total sq. ft. is 26,900 roughly 2500 sq. m. To say this is excess is a bit of an understatement, this is a modern day versailles - a new sun palace fit for Louis XIV. The house is...yes impressive, but is it a home or a stage set piece? Don't get me wrong, we would move in immediately if given the opportunity - I mean who wouldnt, but the age ole saying "less is more," rings so true when you think of design that has lived through the ages and is still relevant today. In 50 years time do you believe this home will still be as stunning or become Passé at best? Share your thoughts below - do you love it, loathe it, or think i'm completely bonkers - lol.
Cloister House consists of a series of connected spaces, articulated by individual roofs, surrounding a central garden or cloister. This house is the second designed by Shay Zak for these owners; they came upon the rare opportunity to purchase the ocean side site with it's wonderful views of Kukio Point. This Hawaiian house is designed as a series of connected spaces, articulated by individual roofs. The detailing is crisp and minimal, with white painted walls, brushed basalt stone flooring, and western red cedar ceilings. The windows, doors and entry gate are constructed from teak. The home's program is divided into multiple pavilions all facing a central garden space. The home is a beautiful exercise in architecture & design.
St Leon 10 is another dream home designed by Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects (SAOTA), a Cape Town-based architectural practice. Completed in 2006, this two-storey contemporary residence was designed for a family with two young children who wanted a house which simultaneously created spaces for casual intimate family occasions or large get-togethers. The building is cut into the slope with approximately 50 per cent of its rear face below the natural ground level. The upper level floats over the essentially glazed south west facing first floor and this exaggerates the height of the building relative to the adjacent ground level. The contemporary South African property is organised in a linear manner with all rooms facing the sea. The rear of the property offers privacy with no openings other than the glazed double volume entrance space. This space is screened with a steel framed timber screen and access off the street is through heavy timber gates. The double volume entrance space leads onto the main living wing of the house including two lounges, dining room and kitchen. A sculptural stair leads up a triple volume space from the entrance up to the second floor and bedroom levels. The ground floor is accessed through the same stairwell and accommodates a generous pool entertainment room with a feature sunken lounge, back-lit onyx bar and wine cellar. A gym and second guest room are also accommodated on this lowest level. Luxury interior design practice Antoni Associates were appointed as the interior decorators. On the entrance living level the interiors are kept to a neutral palette with a subtle play on texture in materials and fabric selected. Soft cream leathers and weathered timber finishes layer the interior with luxurious elements. The overall feel is warm and inviting. Athens-based architectural practice 314 Architecture Studio have completed the H3 project. Completed in 2012, the contemporary home can be found in Athens, Greece. The contemporary
Greek house was designed to give a sense of balance of the water element and the owners love for yachts, which after all was the inspiration for this project. For more images, click "Read More."
